Detailing needed to be cheap, lightweight, demountable and sustainable. Home grown Cedar, which will weather a soft silver over time, was a good option.
As the polycarbonate is self finished on one edge, no frame was needed on the leading edge of the door, we just cut a groove to receive it into the cedar.
We love the clever components Item makes for packaging and have used one of their heavier duty handles for the sliding door.
We achieved a clean floor to ceiling finish with the help of Tripledot, a contractor whose fine carpentry skills allowed them to profile timbers to ceiling and floor.
